Couple of questions

sjenkins Dec 30, 2006 05:27 PM

I have a couple of questions:
First has anyone had any problems going from f/t pinky/fuzzy to f/t fully haired mice? My girl has always been a picky eater when it comes to f/t but she refuses to eat f/t mice with fur. She is 3 years old now and will take adult mice only if they are alive. The only f/t she will take are fuzzies. Any suggestions on getting her switched to larger f/t? I have tried scenting but no luck.

Second she was sold to me 3 years ago as a GBK but after looking at others I am beginning to think she may be a hybrid. What do you think?

Some alterna are just picky about the size of food they want to take. I have had wild animals that would only eat fuzzies and not mice. I have also had some that would only eat mice not rats. Each snake is different. I would try pink rats instead of mice to see if your snake responds to that.

Blood Lines... When buying from individuals, it is tough sometimes to be sure you are getting EXACTLY what you pay for. When you buy from a reputable breeder, you are paying for more than the snake. If you didn't get the snake from a recognized locality breeder it could be 100 percent all Alterna or it could be part Thayeri or Ruthveni.

It is still a great looking snake and I would enjoy it as such.

Best Wishes,
