herphobbyist Dec 30, 2006 06:13 PM

Curious to know which you would rather have and why? Thanks and Happy New Year, Ron

Hey Ron - Happy New Year!!!

I vote Pin - I like the pin combos and if there is a super - I bet it's killer (otherwise we'd have seen it by now).

Wow, tuff call. I think they are both awesome, but if I had to choose it would be the Lesser. I love the Lesser Spider and I dont have any morphs yet that produce a white snake so the super Lesser is a plus. But I really like the lemon Blast. Thats just me though.

I have a Pinstripe female, and she is amazing to look at. I would get a Pinstripe over a Lesser, because I would get a Butter and probably bypass the Lesser altogather...but that is just me. Some of the Lesser crosses are attractive, but if you want a white snake, go with the less expensive Mojave.

Dave, There you go will that Mojave again. Mojave, Mojave, Mojave, cool. And I just seen one I really like. "See New Mojave morph". So you like a butter over a lesser huh. Why?

Jeff

EmberBall Dec 31, 2006 12:19 AM

I think the Butter and Lesser probably are the same morph, and will probably soon be the same price. The Butter's I have seen seem to have more yellow than the Lesser's, but I did see a killer Lesser pic somewhere not too long ago, that was about as high yellow as any Butter I have seen. I guess when I find one, Lesser or Butter, that is high yellow, and amazing looking, I might end up getting one. If I just wanted a white snake though, I would probaby go Mojave or YB.

I always thought the butter was close to the platty daddy.
If that is true then they will hold their value more.
I am wishing to produce a platty daddy.
I have 1.1 lessers and 2.1 lesser normal sibs..... these were from a lesser platty male produced by the original male platty daddy.

that combo. To the best of my knowledge (if I'm wrong please correct me) it appears that the platty daddy is the result of the lesser gene and a different diffuse gene on the same allele. That being the case he could not have given both genes to one offspring. So if my information is correct your sibs, coming from a lesser that was sired by the original platty daddy, could not possibly carry both genes.

possible het. No one has proven it yet. To this point it is speculation.
Why was Ralph selling the posible hets saying it could carry gene????

The way i understand it is.If a lesser has this hidden gene,then it isn't a lesser.It's a Platinum.
Is this not correct?

Isn't it pretty much a given at this point that a Lesser and Butter are the same thing???

As for the original question, I would go with a lesser to make a white snake that is actually white. I personally like the lesser more than the pin and I also think when it comes time to sell some offspring there is more of a demand for the Lessers.

I would get that Pin male you have for sale If I had not spent so much on x-mas. He is a good looker and I would be able to breed him this season....I guess I will have to wait until I get my babies from this season to swing more money to spend.

I would go with a pinstripe ...so many combos...Is there a purple headed super pin out there you'll just have to find out.And how can you resist a Snake like this?

Ive seen a couple Lesser/Butter combos that I like, but what are the great Pin combos besides the Lemon Blast and the Spinner.

Please post pics or provide links. I would really like to see what all the buzz is about.

Thanks Jeff

.......I started this thread is because I was offered a trade. I have a 750 gram pin male posted. I was offered a 75 gram lesser (new hatchling)in trade for him. Not really knowing much about lessers I wanted some feedback. I have since declined the offer even though the lesser was a smoker. I would still like to hear more opinions on the subject. Happy New Year. Thanks Ron

I see its the only pin you have also.. why would you trade him off?why not breed him this year and buy a baby lesser from the babys .theres noway to breed a 75gram lesser.sometimes its hard for me to understand other people reasonings. If i was to get a lesser it would have to be from the org. line at RDR,thats just my buck and a quarter

I wasn't looking to trade him for a lesser I was offered the trade and wanted to see what peoples opinions on the lessers were. He has already been breeding 3 of my girls on a regular basis. Ron

thats real nice. how was that produced? happy new year!!

DZBReptiles Dec 31, 2006 12:21 PM

I checked out the super blast and it is what I expected, SUPER.

Your spinner is pretty sweet also. The s. in front of spinner, is that a typo or does that stand for something?

Jeff

AaronMJones Dec 31, 2006 04:20 PM

Hey Greg,
If I'm not mistaken, isn't the pictured snake a super blast rather than a spinner? I believe its one of Brian's right? Nice pics dude.

Aaron

jyohe Dec 31, 2006 12:43 PM

better pins....better crossed morphs....

white snakes are white........

pastel or albino pins would look better than white......

prices suck on mojaves too........
