I saw it for the first time last night. The head and body shape and posture was pretty Rattlesnake-like, but they didn't show it long enough or clearly enough to really tell....to tell you the truth, it looked like it might be one of those movie-set fake snakes to me. Hard to tell.
Hey...maybe it's one of those "Brattlers" (Bull Snake/ Rattlesnake hybrid) that they are talking about in the Pituophis Forum.
It looks like a rattlesnake to me too. But I'm far from an expert on snake identification.
If you notice, in the ad the character snaps a photo of the animal then sends it to "his buddy" with the caption "poisonous?" and the reply is "not poisonous" at which point he steps over the animal and continues on his way.
If the snake is venomous then I think it is kind of an irresponsible advertisement, or perhaps it is meant to be funny. I'm no goody-two-shoes, but being that there are a lot of rattlers in my area and knowing people who have been bit, I don't think putting yourself at risk to a potentially serious snake bite is funny.
Oh, I don't know...I have been sort of hoping something would kill that guy....
Looks like a computer generated snake to me, ala Hollywood!!
