The second one down looks similar to mine

Top one is a ozzie top ender, V.scalaris.

Second one down is a true V.timorensis. Some get very reddest heads as adults

Third one down appears to be a V.similis. But there is so much varaition, it could be either and indo animal or a Cape York animal.

Fourth one down appears to be a V.scalaris and appears dead. So who cares. But again, so much variation it could be an ozzie V.similis or indo similis as well.

With this group, there is as much confusion as with so many groups, there are more types of animals then there are names to go around. So if its one of these, yours is the second one down, possibly the third as it appears a long term captive.

The problem here is that none of these are his pics or his monitors. Kinda makes the game pointless.

Cheers

Niel,
It might seem pointless to you. To me it seems quite logical, considering the fact that I,ve seen various pictures of all four of these identified under the common names "Timor" and "Spotted Tree Monitor" and a half dozen scientific names as well, all mixed and matched. You might ask "why bother? why dont you just find out what you have and get more of the same if you want to start a breeding project?" Well It seems reasonable to me that if something peaks my interest as monitors do, I should learn as much as possible about that subject. All this considered it seems logical as well to enlist the help of someone like Frank Reets, who can possibly correctly identify these animals, so I that can do the same when I go shopping. Actually the best thing about learning and amassing knowledge for an egomaniac such as myself, is that at some point I might be able to pretend to have intelligent conversations with other arrogant asses like me. Untill that time I'll just keep asking stupid questions and, how did you put it "Be willing to pick through the stones to find the gems" Ibelieve it was.

Don't quote me if you can't get it right.

Sounds like you have some kind of burr in your britches.

Thanks again,
Mine is a little different. I'm trying to get some descent pictures without pulling him out of the cage.
