Tank size

Hi.I'm new here and have a questionon tank size.I just bought two cali. kings and would like to know if a 55 gal. tank will house both of them if I split the tank in halve?I would use a ten gallon UTH in each side.Thanks for any help.

If you split it in two it should be ok for a pair of smaller sized kings (usually not always western forms) But you have to make sure that it is VERY secure. Also you could just use a single 20 gallon heat pad in the middle.

Didn't think about the 20 gallon pad in the middle.Haven't made up my mind on getting one or two of the 55's yet.Thanks for your input.

Since the kings will not likely use the hieght of a 55 gallon tank it might be better to get 2 20 gallons or 2 30 gallons.

Thats the exact setup I have and it seems to work fine. I cut a piece of plexiglass for the middle and used aquarium sealant to secure it. The height is pretty much wasted space but I already had a 55 tank so its fine for me. I am using 2 small heating pads at each end of the tank. I planned on using a larger one in the middle but my tank has a brace on the bottom in the middle so I couldn't attached it correctly. Yours may not have this.

I will try and post some pics if you are interested.
