Fox Snake?

captnemo Jan 01, 2007 09:42 PM

Hi-
I recently acquired a snake which I am 90% sure is an Eastern Fox Snake. Are there any other snakes similar in size and pattern that also have a divided anal plate that anyone can think of (I'm much more knowledgeable about pythons than colubrids) What would be the best forum for this particular question? Also, does anyone have any idea as to the market value of this species, as I probably won't be keeping it. Thanks in advance.
Mike

This is a good forum to get it ID'ed, but I would have to see a photo. Lots of colubrids have divided anal plates.

Can you post a photo here?

still trying to find the easiest way to post photos (computer illiterate), but I found a pic on the rat snake forum...he is indeed an Eastern Fox. Thanks.

Be careful...Others here know the particulars much better than I do, but I believe one or the other (and maybe both?) spp. are protected in parts of their range.
