When do mice become dangerous?

Dfrieden Jan 02, 2007 03:54 PM

My Honduran milksnake has never tried anything bigger than two fuzzies but today when i bought two fuzzies I looked at them and one was a hopper. It is two big for him but I am wondering whether it will be safe for him both by the mouse attacking him and him regurging because of it being two big. I know I should be prekilling but he is stubburn and I am still working on switching him over. He is around 20 inches and I think the hopper is a little on the small side. I also can't stun it before I offer it because he usually refuses to eat for a few hours after it is offered and he must be left alone. I'd like to here what you guys think and I already know I should be feeding pprekilled, thanks.

He can probably handle the hopper.
It always amazes me the size of food they can actually handle. Make sure it has good warm place to sit and digest, and clean full water dish - as often they soak after a big meal.

I would have offered it to the snake anyway...it very well may have ate it and if not I doubt any harm would have come of it Tom Stevens

Yeah...a healthy hondo would most likely take the hopper...
live prey items should be watched very carefully.
You can quickly dispatch them yourself before feeding or.....
if they're really dangerous,
call...
The exterminator!

Thanks everyone for commenting. I left him in with it but the mouse died ( I think because of the high temps of the room and stress). Do you think I should leave him with the dead mouse?,thanks.

Take out the dead mouse, wait 3 days , try again.
