Sad day, very unexpected :0(

PHEve Jan 02, 2007 09:44 PM

I have lost my handsome boy Zimba, male werneri.

I had just posted a pretty pic of him a week before Christmas. He was an awesome lil guy that I enjoyed very much. I fed him alot by hand, so he would wait in the morning by his basking spot for me. This morning he was not waiting, he seemed weak, trying to climb up the side.
I thought maybe he was a bit cold and I helped him to his place, kept my eye on him for ahwile, but within an hour he was gone. I found him down at the bottom of his tree in the pot/ soil area, he had died.

I have read these guys have a rather short life span, I had him for 2 years, and he was an adult when I purchased him so he may have been older. He sure went quick, shockingly quick, I never would have thought it.

I always refered to my werneri as the lil guys, but they gave me a HUGE amount of pleasure watching them. I will miss him, I personally as his owner thought he was gorgeous an amazing lil creature. I even had plans to purchase him a couple pretty ladies from Tyler after the holidays. Now I have decided to NOT go on working with the "Lil Guys" (at least for awhile.)

I'm so sorry to hear that Zimba has died. Its better that he went quickly and didn't suffer a prolonged illness though. I know how much you will miss him.

Very sorry to read this, he was a very beautiful chameleon. I lost a panther 27th December and that was a shock, a bit sudden it was. My panther went downhill overnight and died the next afternoon, he had been in good health up to that point. One thing you can't do is save a chameleon from old age related illness and death. Tragic when they die isn't it? I cried a river and felt like it was a major bereavement so I know how you feel.

Sigh...so sorry. I'm getting choked up remembering my past chameleon buddies.

Thank you all for your kindness, and I just wanted to say how sorry I am about your panther too, it's so sad when they die, we know they will evenually but your never ready for it.

Hope they are frolicing in a nice place with beautiful trees to climb,

Take care, feel better soon!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss...I know right now that words do not comfort. Knowing that you have others near that feel your pain does....

Oh Eve,

I am so sorry! I recall you lost your little girl this past year, too? I know they were special to you. At least he went quick so there was minimal, if any, suffering.

Vary sad for you

I'm so sorry to hear! I just actually had to euthanize Caleb on the Thursday after Christmas, stress complications from a bad mouth infection (he was vomiting blood). The vet said there was nothing he could do for him, it would only be to help me. I didn't think that was fair to Caleb. So... I feel you. I'm so sorry.

My goodness it seems as though it was a bad time for chameleons the last week or so. Yes we can all cry on each others shoulders thats for sure. We can have empathy for one another it helps!

Sorry he was so sick. I sure hope you feel better soon.
