What morph got you into breeding?

magicalmorphs Jan 03, 2007 12:36 AM

I have always loved snakes, but it was when I saw a bumblebee in person that I wanted to really start breeding them. Then after getting SATAN's book I saw the blue-eyed lucistic and I was really even more hooked!! I have still yet to see one in person. Hopefully I will in spring of 2009 when my pair of mojaves breed. I should be getting a bumblebee in next years clutch also.

PIED.

FireStorm Jan 03, 2007 05:11 AM

For me it was pieds and albinos. They're still my favorites, too.

DZBReptiles Jan 03, 2007 06:30 AM

For me it was the Axanthic Killer Bee.

Diddo....I started keeping balls about six months ago, the only so called different Ball Python to me was the albino. Little did I know what I was getting myself into...LOL!!

I would say that my favorite morph that I hope to produce this year is the Bumble Bee.

Another great question! I was breeding Balls and other snakes before the morphs where really going, but like a lot of the others when I saw the first Pied that was brought in the country I was blown away. Brian Sharp had it and I'm really not sure what happened to that snake, but I was hooked for sure. It was several years later that Pete Kahl proved them out, but by then I had already bought a wild Pied and some hets (well possible hets because they weren't proven). Now there are so many cool ones it's hard to say which one has me hooked. I think everyday it's something else I like the best I'm sure next year I'll see something that blows me away again! The first Pied Brian Sharp brought in the country died...The second one he imported he traded to Pete Kahl towards an Albino Boa. Brian wasn't into Balls at the time...What a mistake!

Pieds are also what got me into Balls, but I still don't have any...lol

Have you produced it yet and how long did it take you to produce it. 2nd year 3rd year ect.

DZBReptiles Jan 03, 2007 12:51 PM

Not even close, but I've got nothing but time. GOD willing.

Pieds for sure. They were also the first morph we bought into. Got a pair of het pieds in 2003 and produced 2 pieds in 2005! That was a great day!

Albinos caught my attention but pieds really hooked me....

I used to hate ball pythons....As a young boy I worked in a pet shop that would get about 1000 adult w/c balls a year. The owner had 4 stores and he would bring them to the store I worked in to "clean" them up..... There is nothing worse than pulling ticks off snakes for 8 hours... I can still remember the smell..... but now I love them all lol....

I am in awe of Pieds (isn't everyone?) I am also nuts about bees.. so in a few years I will produce them. I took the odd step of buying both male morphs; pastel and spider. My rationale is, I could have gotten a female Spider, but I would ahve had to grow her up anyway.. so add a year on.. I breed the spider to my normal, get a female out of that clutch, and just tack on a year and I will be that much closer to bees.. if in fact I do get a female.. that is what's fun; BP breeding is really just a little form of unsanctionized gambling!

When I first saw the Caramel Glow I was completly blown away. That was the morph that sucked me in. The man to blame for my Ball python addiction is Don Kaye. While getting my venomous training from Don, all I heard from him was ball python lingo until I was soon brainwashed.

One day I will own a Caramel Glow, and when that day comes..........I will Glow.
