Nelson Baby refusing pinkies HELP!!

skinks4me Jan 03, 2007 08:33 AM

I have a baby albino nelson that has not eaten in about a month. He still getting around pretty good and seems lively, but just runs from any kind of food i put in the tank. I have tried f/t and live pinkies with no success. The tank setup is infrared heat lamp on on end, temp around 82-84, water dish/hide at cool end, temp around 75, eco earth substrate, also a tube for a hide at the warm end. I have no idea what to do from here. I have tried everything i know to try, unless there is something else i can try to feed him. I have lost two baby corns this week and am truely hope i dont lose this little guy. Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

have you tried tuna fish water scented pinkies? How about putting the pinky and the snake into a small brown paper bag, folding over the top carefully and putting the whole thing back into the cage? How about a mini brumation period, if the snakes aren't too frail to last for a month or so?

He finally ate today!!! i am so very happy!!! Now if he just digests it I will be in the clear for a little while. I would have never thought about the scenting with tuna water, but thank you very much for the tip. also the brown paper bag thing...i ended up having to put the pinkie into the hide with him and i left for about an houror so and when i came back pinkie was gone and he had a lump......it had already been a month since he ate last. And i lost my two baby corns this week, so i was worried..not out of the woods yet, but close lol thank you very very much.....its so nice to have a place to go for help and get good answers.
