Sliding glass locks

ViperPaintball Jan 03, 2007 05:47 PM

Anyone know where I can get the nice, flush locks for sliding glass? All the ones I've found have a big screw that sticks out the back. However, I've seen the lock plates (but no lock on them) that glue to the glass and leave nothing sticking into the enclosure for the sanke to rub against.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Vision cage sells them. I also use the ones with a squeeze fit that locks them in place. I buy them keyed alike at Cothron's here in the Austin area. I need to buy some more of the Vision locks so i will see if a quantity discount is available. How many do you need?

Tim,
Put me down for 5 of the Vision locks if you order them.
Thanks,
Randal

Just ordered

I'll let you know when yours arrive. I can get them to you at the breeders show, give them to Tim in two weeks, or ship them to you. Just let me know.

Cost to my door is $11 each shipped.

I've used them for a number of years and every single one of them has worn out, failed, or just plain difficult to work with. I have since replaced them all for good quality, hardware grade locks that have worked exceptionally well. I'm surprised that Vision doesn't sell a better lock (unless they have gone with a better model since I last ordered a few years ago). I like Vision cages, just not their locks.

The Vsion ones are the only ones that I can find that don't leave a big hunk of metal sticking inside the enclosure. Not a big problem with a smaller snake, but with 8 - 12 footers I don't want them gouging themselves.

The locks that I get have both the "screw in" fastener as well as the "pinching" fastener in the same package...I use the pinch one, and with plyers, just squeeze it a tad to get a tight fit on the glass; it works great and is FAR BETTER than the flimsy locks sold by Vision (But I do like their cages VERY much).

Got a brand name?

I don't know if you are talking about the sliding cage door locks where one piece has an adhesive that glues to the glass while the other mechanism has a "catch" that allows the lock to slide when open and lock when closed, but if it is, those things are a piece of CRAP. I have since chucked every single one of them to go with the high quality display case locks that are designed for constant usage. But, if Vision is using a better lock these days, that's good to hear as I need to order cages.
