Corn Snake squash

ChondroGTP Jan 03, 2007 08:29 PM

I got a five foot female corn snake. she is almost 10 years old. she seems a little too big. (is this normal?) recently she has been going under her hide box which is pretty heavy. its one of those ones that looks like a rock and tan, and she sticks herself under it like its squshing her. shes been doing it alot and I wonder why. shes been eating like a champion and her tank temp is fine.

2 beardies
2 corns Albino Okeetee, Ghost
White's tree frog
ball python

my corns often 'hide' under their tank furniture, and I've pulled them out of some of the most bizarre places!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, it's natural for them to try and squeeze into the smallest, tightest places they can find. After all, the smaller a space you're in, the easier you are to overlook!

I have flipped boards and tin in the field and been amazed at sizable snakes I have found curled up under flat items that seemed flush to the ground. The little devils can get into very tight spaces with no harm at all. That's one reason they survive so well -- no hawk can get you when you're flattened out under a board.
