Its probably a squamigera, they are pretty easy to tell apart when you can compare the two. Here is a link to a post I started showing pictures of my Atheris chlorechis and Atheris squamigera.

thanks it is identical to your female chlorechis

Cool. Its odd that a distributor would mistake the two, unless he was new to the species.

Thats kinda scary. A bushbaby is a completely different animal, its a small primate if I'm correct.

If he didn't even know what the animal he has no business keeping it. Atheris, particularly the larger varieties (squamigera, chlorechis, nitschei and desaixi) have pretty potent venom ounce for ounce and there have been recorded fatalities from bites. Furthermore, there is no AV.

Anyways, good luck with your chlorechis, they are fairly easy to keep. The main thing I've noticed with mine is that they require daily misting to keep them hydrated properly. Mine won't drink anything other than droplets off of leaves. Also, as adults they don't require much food, and get overweight easily. Sorta similar to Waglers really.

You may have found this already, but the link below is to a good site on the various Atheris sp.

"sanantonio" should be San Antonio, "chloriches" should be chloreichis...I know young folks don't know how to spell these days due to talking "computer lingo" but seriously, lets proof read our posts first! I'm a nit pick and I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it really blows me away when I see how few people proof their posts before posting. Okay, I'm done ranting. Enjoy your bush viper.

Yes, the Bush Baby is a squirrel-sized primitive primate. Also known as a Galago, which is its genus.

Wish ya luck, Rob. I gave up a looong time ago.

Hey, I'm about to turn 20 and I twitch when I see some of the errors my elders make. There is nothing quite as frustrating as working under someone who frequently misspells "specialist".

You seem like someone who'd appreciate my signature avatar.

I know it's off-topic, but talking about elders and mispronunciations...

Why the hell is it acceptable to pronounce "nuclear" as "noo cue ler"???

Is it because our president pronounces it that way?

It's nu-clear....nuclear!

Sorry...just ranting...we now return you to our regularly-scheduled grammar police. ;^)

I will also vote against poor grammar and over use of computer short-hand. It hurts my brain and gives me multiple sclerosis.

j3nnay Jan 06, 2007 09:40 PM

My left eye twitches when people mix up their, there, and they're.

And it is new-clee-ar. I honestly can't pronounce the word the way our president does. I can't pay attention to what he says; every time I see a picture of him, I want to give him a banana.
