Are N. Braz. BCC more "delicate"........

SNAKE26 Jan 03, 2007 11:05 PM

A couple of years ago I bought a baby N. Braz. that did fine for a couple of months then had rectal prolapse problems and died soon after. About two months ago I bought a pair of baby N. Braz. that after eating a few times are now being treated for repetitive regurge. I've got several other boas and have been doing this for about 20 years with practically no problems, so I believe conditions are favorable. Any info.? Thanks in advance. Also, as you can see in the pic below, I am pretty successful at breeding boas. (Just joking)

This is obviously the lamest attempt I have ever seen to get known. Is this a joke......

The question I asked was serious. I just threw the pic in for kicks. Did you not see where I wrote (just joking) above the picture? I've noticed several times where the first reply to a post is not an answer, but some kind of lame comment.

...thats because they probably didnt read the post...they just look at the pictures...are your other boas b.c.c. or b.c.i.,because in my experiance b.c.c.'s are more delicate than b.c.i.'s...

N. brazilians are not any more difficult to keep than the other BCC localities. Most of my collection is made of N. Brazilians and I have never had a problem. As a matter of fact, Surinames are more likely to regurg than N. Brazilians. Wait 2 weeks from the regurg before feeding again and go with a much smaller prey item (pinky mouse for a young boa). Then wait 2 weeks again and go with a slightly larger prey item. Wait 10 days to feed again and go with a med prey item. Continue with med prey at a frequency of every 10 days for a couple of months. This always seem to resolve the problem.------RON

Amarali are probably the most sensitive to any husbandry mistakes. Some do well, others never have the chance. I havn't really heard anything about North Brazilians, but Bolivians and South Brazilians do have some inherent problems that are most likely the cause of sub-par husbandry. However, some are born pukers; Others come out of the egg sack, never do well and wither away. I just lost this one, who was healthy for the first 6 months, and just did a complete 180. Nobody knows what happened, she literally lost all muscle tone and withered away. She did act like a normal Boa till' the day she passed. Others from the same litter are doing fine. Its just one of those things you have to deal with when keeping these guys.

I've got BCI, BCC including surinames and peruvians. I've also got Amarili. The N. Braz. just happen to be the only ones that have given me trouble.

They shouldnt be unless your N. Brazilians are actually import Suris with the N.B. look. I had a pair of them and guess what happened.
