new tank

violator Aug 08, 2003 11:03 PM

Sweet today i picked up a new tank for my brooks king. I got me a new 40 gallon breeder tank, 36x18x12. Just thought i would share my good news. Right now my brooks is about 21 inchs long. when i got him like 5 or 4 months ago he was 12inchs.
He has gotten alot longer but only alittle fatter is this normal? currently feed him every 4 days, 3 pinky mice each time.

Sounds like he's getting enough food. You'll probably need to switch to somehting bigger than pinkies though. Once he's eating more than two at a time it's time to move on to bigger food. The sooneer the better because pinkies are not very nutritious. They really are nothing but fat, skin, and milk. Try changing to fuzzies. Then once he's taking two of these switch to hoppers and so on. That's just my method. BTW I'm not saying this has anything to do with him not getting thicker. They seem to go in spurts. Longer then thicker then longer again. As long as he's eating regualarly I wouldn't worry about "normal" growth rates.

Well if i go by the rule of no food wider then him then he isnt big enough to eat fuzzies like i said he hasnt got fat enough for small fuzzies yet.
