Corn with lumps

laf2me Jan 05, 2007 02:06 PM

I was feeding my corns the other night when I noticed my anery had some weird lumps on his sides towards his vent end. He did not eat and is going into shed. I did soak him in warm water thinking he might be backed up, but he hasn't pooped, so I don't think that is it. Could it be egg reabsorbtion even though he is supposed to be male? This could have only been so pronounced in the last 2 weeks when he ate last. Can tumors show up that fast? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We do not have a good herp vet in the area, BTW. Here are some pics. Laurel

It looks like your snake has fat pads. They are kinda like love handles in humans. Without taking a first hand look at them I can't be certain but it certainly looks like they are fat pads. Fat pads typically occur on the posterior end of the snake just before the vent. How much you are feeding him? It may just be that he is eating too much. I doubt they are tumors but I could be wrong. Hope this helps.

My Corn has one lump near her vent. It turned out to be a fatty tumor. Nothing to worry about. Yours, has quite a few, though and they appeared real fast? I know some tumors can happen quick, depending. If you think your snake is constipated, soak it a few times. If it continues to worry you, it is always better to be safe than sorry and take it to a vet.

Thanks for the responses, I was rather worried. Fat does make a lot of sense, especially since I noticed after his last meal. He is my best and most eager eater and usually eats more than everyone else. I will definitely slow him down in the future.
Thanks again!

I would probably get him checked anyway. it probably is just fat, but your better off just getting him checked. My 5 foot corn is obese. she is eating less now and has those on her for a while, slowed down the feedings and she is fine. good luck!

Hi
A few of my corns have fatty bumps. Its seems(at least in my
collection)to happen more to the anerys than the other phases.
The corns with these breed, eat well, and seem to be perfectly healthy. Hopefully this is the same with your critter.
