Boa felt cold...

coluberking25 Jan 05, 2007 09:08 PM

....should I be concerned? I noticed this when I held him for not even 5 minutes. Didn't move much, but when he did, the movement was nothing irregular and did have signs of regular alertness. So when I put him back, all I did was raise the rheostat slightly to try and get that substrate into the low 80s(it's between 78 and 79 regularly). Thanks for any help in advance.

Scott,
Snakes are cold-blooded silly lol. Try and get it at like 82-83 so Rocky can have a wider temperature gradient because 79 is not bad at all by no means but in reality is like low 70's to 79. You did mention you wanted to feed him every week so it might be useful to raise up the temp. so maybe he can digest a little quicker although I could wrong. Raising it from 83 to 86 wouldn't be beneficial or best for him either but I think it may apply in your case.
