When I got my MBK he was jet black, I read they get darker as they mature, Mine is getting lighter, is this normal ?

That is not something I have ever heard of before? Some lose their sheen and get a kind of dusty gray look on them but they're still black. There's a very uncommon Hypo that is chocolate brown but I believe those look that way right out of the egg and stay that color. Can you post before and after pics??? Tom Stevens

There are many that are really just an equally deep dark brown rather than black...
As for it "lightening", I don't believe I've seen any do that either.

No pics sorry. I might not have explaind it right his body is black but his throat and neck are getting lighter marks, his throat has a big white mark where it was once black, and the white seems to be spreading futher and futher down the body.

That's very interesting. Usually the exact opposite happens - the white on the chin area and flecking on the sides disappears over time.

In corn snakes, there was once a "pied" corn that developed white patches over time. I highly recommend that you take photos to document what's happening.

If you have some sort of "pied" MBK that develops more white over time, it would be a breeding project that I bet a lot of people would want to incorporate into their MBK stock.

I don't know what it looked like as a baby but a couple years ago I bought a trio of adult MBK's and one of the females was a full blown hypo.I sold her to Don Shores and as far as I know he still has her.I will see if I took a pic of her.

I see the brown in that photo, I have a splendida like that but don't know if it is a hypo or not. He is a wild caught, just could be a naturally occurring color down here.
