Heat Panel question

rottenweiler9 Jan 06, 2007 11:40 AM

So, I finally read the insutructions after my Retic kept pulling these things down and saw you could drill a hole in each corner. I hope I did it right. I placed it face down and drilled in the corner on the lip. Is that correct.

2nd question is I could not find a bolt long enough so I used covered wire that they use to hang lights. I assume this will be OK because the corners do not get heated, so I would not melt, or should I find a bolt long enough?

I find it hard to believe that you couldn't find a bolt long enough, how long do you need?

You can buy machined rod (threaded rod) at most hardware stores, so if push comes to shoove you could alwasy cut that to length and ues a nut on each end.

I would use a bolt vs wire, far more secure.

Problem is all the hardware stores only carry up to 3 inches. and the drill hole can only be 5/32 so only a number 8 screw size works. Unless there is somewhere else I can go. The Home Depot and Lowes and Menards did not carry anything longer.

Try the threaded rod idea I know you can get that in various lengths, I am not sure about that size though.

Another idea would be to bolt the RHP to another piece of material that could than be bolted to the cage interior using a large carriage bolt.

Just curious.
