Well, I was in Budd Lake NJ Friday night (Jan 5th) and I heard chorusing frogs or toads near an apartment complex. Not sure what kind. They sounded like maybe peepers. You gotta love the weather but at the same time you have to be a little concerned with what the heck is happening to the planet right now. Is this a normal cycle or some indication that something is seriously messed up!?

I heard something on the news last week that...may have been the weather channel that predictions are the summer of 2007 is going to be one of the hottest summers on record.
It's just a cycle though.. everything happens in cycles & this is simply a warming one.
That's just something I heard as the noise/news was on & I passed through the room.

I hope you're right but we haven't really been around long enough to understand all these “cycles” and what they fully entail. I hope everything is going to be OK. I hope Italy doesn't freeze over and NJ becomes like the tropics! HOLD ON a minute . . . OK, maybe that wouldn't be so bad. Maybe Florida Box's will start to migrate into Wayne NJ and PA! Now THAT would be cool! OK, I changed my mind . . . let’s mess up the Gulf Stream!
I didn't walk through any woods this weekend, but I did take my boxie outside so he could explore and bask for a little while. I figured 70 degree temperatures were safe for him to walk about.
However, my hibernating female did not poke her head out. I have a feeling if the weather reamins in the high 60's and low 70's that she will come back out.

Ok I don't feel as angry that I didn't get out to the woods that day. Lilypad your a jersey person so if yours wasn't up then wild ones probably weren't either. Boxies normally aren't the first to come out anyway, I guess it needs to stay in the 70's for a week before they pop up.
None of mine came up here in central VA, either, even though we had warm weather, too. I thought for sure they would, too.
I'm not sure when to expect my girl to come back up. Hmm... sounds like a question for a new post
