How big do bormeliads get? Can I have one in a 10g tank?
The smaller Neoregalias do well in a 10 gallon, if they are raised a bit on a background or branch. I'm not a brome expert, but it seems that they seem to "know" their limitations and stay somewhat smaller in a smaller tank. I can't explain this phenomenon, and it is only my own observation, but in my experience, at least with the Neoregalias, and some Vresias, it appears to be true. So rather than purchase the larger, fancy potted plants, buy the unrooted, unpotted pups, which are also much cheaper, and grow them as epiphytes. Just wire them (or use dental floss) to branches above the substrate, or stick them in the background media and support them with something like bamboo skewers or tooth picks, until they grab hold of it themselves. They also seem to stay smaller when grown epiphytically like this, rather than directly in the substrate.

Sick, thanks!
I use a piece of toothpick and to mount it and then put a few drops of super glue to hold it in place. That works really well if you don't have the space or patients to mount it using strings!
