sounds like a fine deal to me. one good breeding and you have your money back, if not more. throw a pastel male to her and make bees, spiders, and pastels. and some normals too. SNAG HER!!!!

I've seen a lot of ads for 1000 gram "adult" albinos and such, but the age should match up with the size as well. I would consider the age, feeding schedule, and health before buying. Back in November I traded for an '06 spider female that weighed around 400 grams. She now weighs over 800 grams at less than a year old. If it's over 18 months, I would ask questions. Just throwing out my $0.02.

Good luck.

I know I am going to get a bunch of crap for saying this but...

I do not consider a 1000g. female near breedable. I guess it could be an adult and be 5 years old or something but if so it is small. I have some females that are over 1000g. and only 8 months old. I would not even consider breeding them. I like to see them around 2 1/2 - 3 years and over 1500g.

All that said. It still is an OK deal and you would have a good well started female for NEXT year.

I know, I know. "I breed my females a two months and 200g"
Little exagerated but you know what I mean.

at 1000g and 8 months old a female is not ready to breed, but at 1500g and 12 months is she? or is a 1400g 18month old female ready? it all depends on the female in question. we have a female that is almost 4 yrs old and is 2300g and she has yet to produce her first clutch (she better this year though, lol) and we have females that are 18months and 1400-1500g that are producing follicles and have been bred and should lay something for us whether it's duds or good eggs we won't know until they hit the ground. I agree that 1000g isn't almost breedable yet but with 4 months of good feedings it can be a late producer for someone, it wouldn't be the first time a female less than a year old has produced. It doesn't happen terribly often but it does happen.

I totally agree. I wouldn't breed a female under 1500 grams unless she just didn't grow any.....which in my case I am this year. I have a 3 year old pastel female that is just under 1500 grams. She's been a very slow feeder from about 4 months old. I have to feed her about 10 live mice every week. Sucks, but hopefully I'll get some pastels het for pied.

If she is eating 10 live mice a week she would be well over 1500 grams in not time right? I have a couple of pastel breeder females that only eat mice and they were both well over 1500 grams by their second year. How does eating 10 live mice make her a bad eater?

She went off feed for several months. I tried all the tricks and had to resort to gerbils for a few months. By this point I was over it and only fed her a couple of gerbils a week, trying mice as often as I fed the collection. She just started eating live mice about 5 months ago. She has put on around 650 grams since. She is still, in my opinion, a terrible feeder. My het pied female is between 4-5K grams and is only a year older......get it?

just because an animal is a year older, doesn't mean it's worth 2x the amount of an '06. I was trying to say, I've seen '05s that weighed 500 grams for $2800 and '06s that weighed 450 grams for $1300. Which would you buy? I personally would choose the '06. Some deals aren't all they're cracked up to be.
