Defacation methods ???

oldskool28 Jan 07, 2007 11:08 AM

I have a small hatchling that wants to bust , I've soked her but she hasn't gone yet . I can almost see the stool and urates through her belly scales ...it's ready to come out . Any other methods besides soaking in warm water ? How long have you others soaked animals for .Just trying to get opinions on other methods .

Clean her cage SOOOOOOOOOOO clean that YOU would eat out of it, then put everything back in as normal, and when you say damn thats a clean cage she willll poop in it!

Totally agree. Spotless clean. God Himself would be impressed. 10 minutes later, time to clean again. Every time.

Lol yes this method works for me every time never fails. I hate it lol its like they are little kids waiting for their mother to clean up there toys just so they can dump them out again. Even when they have just pooped they seem to like messing your clean enclosure.

OK , I'm just curious why you and the other 2 replying to my post got the idea that my animal is in a Dirty cage.Unlike the rest of some of the professionals in this forum , my animals are not on dirty paper for more then the time it takes me to leave for work and get home . Thanks for your reply but i'm thinking the snake might have s stool that has just built up , she actually went later in day (of my post) . it was huge . Thank for the reply attempt.

Think that your snake is kept in a dirty cage BY ANY MEANS. I know that in my own experience My snakes choose not to poop until I clean their cage out every week. I wash the tub, clean the pvc change the waterbowl and put new aspen bedding in then by the next morning my snakes decides to take a super dumps on the back end against the tub wall and on the aspen! Cage cleaning causes pooping.

Ok,

Thank you for the clarification . Yes they always pick the best time to make clean-up seem like a waste . Excuse the pun.

I was not saying you have a dirty enclosure i was simply saying every time i clean my enclosures i wind up cleaning them again soon after because they snake messes it again. Easy killer.

soak her, then hold her and let her slither around on you while you are wearing your most expensive shirt or pair of pants .... this has worked for me very recently! (hehe, but seriously, good luck with getting business taken care of)

Tell your wife you really want to see your mother in law....let her hold the little bugger, and bam! I am just guessing this would work, I have not ever tried it.

Not to sound like I'm tooting my own horn here, but generally, I don't understand the "defecation issues" people on this forum seem to have. I find that with a majority of my snakes, if kept on a regular feeding schedule (both time and size) I could damn near set a clock by their defecation.

Once again, beginning a paragraph with a disclaimer, not saying this is the case here either, but I don't power feed in terms of size or frequency. One good sized meal each week, same day each week. Slow and steady approach. It makes cleaning and feeding easy as I can often do both at once. Let them eat while I ready the new tubs and when the finish, put them in the new tubs and they go back on the rack, then I clean the dirty ones and stack them up to repeat next week.

But all in all, I hope she is not blocked up and everything passes with ease.

Good luck!

-John
