Please post photo of enclosures

HI,

I have a 8 monht old panther hcameleon in a screen cage but i am wondering how you all have your cages set up with the plants. I have mine enclosure with one Ficus tree in it and a heat lamp and a few garden sticks for him to crawl on. I just want to see how you have yours so I can change my setup. I certainly appreciate any photos you add.

Thank you

Simplicity is truly the key to creating your chameleons enclosure. If you use an over abundance of branches/foliage, the cage will be much more difficult to clean, and when it comes to chameleons, cleanliness is the key.

Thank you. Yeah my setup is very simplistic. What is those white wires? That might besomething i should add to my enclosure.

Tey are just thick electrical wires that I bought at home depot. It is much cheaper than the bendable repti-vines and is easier to clean.

How are you hanging your plants? Are they hanging from the screen or do you have a beam the plants are hooked into?

I connected a thin electrical wire to each upper side beam of the cage using eye hooks. I hung the plants on those.

Heres a photo of my enclosure. Maybe you can offer suggestions

I am far from a cham expert, but from my research I can suggest a couple things to help ya. First, I would add more cover for your cham. Consider adding another plant to the enclosure that would provide more branches to climb and some privacy. (Pothos seems to be a big favorite) Also, add some more branches/"cham highways" throughout the enclosure, I found it easier to go to a hardware store and purchase thin wooden rods for about 50 cents each as they are easy to secure together with zip-ties and look sharp when supplemented by additional natural branches (cleaned and sterilized of course) What kind of cham do you have? I found one of my favorite parts of getting a cham as getting to design and arrange the set-up. Have fun with it.

ty for your reply. I think i already have those thin branches you are talking about. I purhcased a bag of them and if you look closely at the pic i posted you will see that they hare hodling up the metal mesh in the tank. I had another plant in the tank, another Ficus (it wasnt F.benjamina) it was a different species but it was too much. My panther is gonna be a year old soon and I was trying to get him more climbing materials. The problem I have is that the frame of the enclosure is metal and I have nowhere to nail or hang things. I dont want to poke a hole through the screen. I was looking to get branches, but from what kind of trees?

The best way to attach branches to screening, in my opinion is to buy a roll of twist ties (at home depot or dollar stores). After securing a piece around the end of the branch, push it through the screening and then roll that end into a ball so it cannot fit back through. Of course, that screening looks very fragile, so you might have to put it through the screen holes that are closest to the frame, have it go around the frame, and back through and tie it together. I would agre that the chameleon needs more foliage and branches in the cage. Not only will it provide a place to hide for him, but it will help create natural gradients within the cage. Pothos and umbrella plants have worked best for me. Pothose are especially good because within no time at all, they vine everywhere and you can use them to wrap around the branches to make the cage look very nice.

I have the same enclosure as the ones you have in the second photo. Where do I find big sticks like that? Did you get them from outside or did you buy them. let me know i like your setups
