Our female chameleon just released her first set of unfertilized eggs two days ago. There is a large sack (which we believe is her uterus) hanging from her now and she is not eating and getting very sickly looking. I have heardthis is a common occurance. What can we do to treat her?

By all means, keep the exposed uterus moist. This can be accomplished by placing the female chameleon in a shallow pool of lukewarm water...use a bucket, aquarium, etc. Most times the uterus will be drawn back inside of the female's body.
I have heard of this happening to male chameleons hemipenes, and this remedy has worked more than once.

Get her to the vets ASAP and keep the tissue that shouldn't be outside of her body moist until you do. Even if you did/could treat it yourself, she will likely need a course of antibiotics and will need to be watched to ensure that a fungal infection doesn't set in.

this happened to my female bearded dragon a few years ago. we were new to breeding and didnt know what the hell to do either. we contacted our local pet shop we knew very well and got her to an ER vet. they were able to put it back inside her and put 2 stitches in her too. she was fine in the end and even bred again many times with no problems.

sometimes it will go back inside by itself, but not all the time. i would get her to a vet asap. better safe than sorry. just keep it moist and away from anything that would get it dirty.
