Question on a Bearded Dragon

oceanfairy21 Jan 08, 2007 04:22 AM

My little guy always has his mouth open just enough to stick the tip of his tongue out. Any idea's on why this is happening?

Honestly, I've never kept dragons so this could be normal behavior. I don't think it is however and in my experience observing other's dragons, and other species, this is a sign of stress. Also ask this question on the bearded dragon forum.

Without having an exam, this could be caused by many things. Overheating, respiratory difficulty, oral disease, stress, among other things. If you don't get an answer soon, take it to the vet for a proper exam, it won't hurt.

In the mean time, re-evaluate your husbandry and ensure everything is withen proper parameters. Also look to see that the dragon has plenty of hiding spaces, and that the enclosure is not in a high traffic area.

Good luck

Ian
