gecko_gal Aug 09, 2003 07:05 AM

im so upset, my snake was fine in his tank lastnight, but today to my shock, he was not there, he must have got out of one of the ventilation holes i made him, I dont think he could have got outside, but I guess you never know, I dont think my cat got him, because he was scared of him, also if my cat kills, he makes a mess!, there are quite a lot of places for him to hide, and he is small enough, I have put a mouse in his hide on the floor in the hope he will find it, PLEASE can anyone tell me, if I have any hope in finding him, if theres anything more I can do????????, where could he be!!!!!, I cant believe this is happening!.
HELP??????

Hello,
First of all, take a breath. Calm down alittle before you start searching. If you are more relaxed, you will think of better places to look. Try these "hot spots"-underneathe the refridge., under, any carpets or rugs, closets, drawers->basically anything warmer then the area around. When I lost my milk, i got plenty of tips, but one that seemed to work was to place flour on the edges of walls, etc, and see if anything pushed or moved across it. I didn't have any luck, and I never found him, but i wish you luck. Good luck-zach

You have a really good chance of finding him and your cat is the key. Watch your cat. You should notice him nosing around in the area where your snake is hiding, trying to figure out a way to get at him. Everytime I have ever had an escaped snake, my cat had found it for me.

Thank you both kindly for your advice and help, ive done all you said put flour down, searched high and low, my cat has no interest to find him, ive put mice down, I dont know if he is upstairs, downstairs, or worse outside, he is only a baby snake, and about a year old, Im terrified he might have actually got out of the catflap, my bf thinks not, since the cat flap is higher than my snake is!.But we have searched all over his room & their is no sign of him, searched under fridge, freezer, cooker, washing machine, under & in cupboards, under rugs and carpets, we cant lift hi fi system as its too heavy!, done all we can, I searched garden, their is just no sign of him, I hope he is ok, I feel so awful about all this, I just want my Riley back, if I could rip this place apart to find him, i would, but cant cuz boyfriend would kill me!!!.
I know its only been two days now he has been missing, but it breaks my heart the thought of never seeing him again & to think I only had him a week!!!.
