Leopard frog leg problem

ginevive Aug 09, 2003 08:08 AM

I looked in on the female Plains Leopard frog, and her rear leg is twisted at a very odd angle. She jumped once and the leg did not return to normal but appears twisted somehow. Could she have a broken leg? There's nothing in the tank that could injure her, unless she buried beneath the hide-log somehow. The water is always clean and she has been feeding well, and I use vitamin powder appropriately. I cannot get to the vet until Monday, and I am afraid to touch her for fear of messing the leg up more. Geez I don't want anything bad to happen to her, she is about 5 years old.

I should add, she is in a thirty gallon sized aquarium, forest bed substrate, large deep water bowl and a few half-log hide spots. Her bone structure and general appearance are not sickly at all besides the leg.

I despise these mysterious malfunctions! WHO KNOWS what could be going on with what I assume to be very good care from you. Please report back after you get to the vet, I would be interested in knowing what has happened!
