Settling in nicely, P. curtus

Sonya May 20, 2003 09:45 PM

The boy came home last month and has eaten great all along. Ate right after I put him back from this picture and a soak- prekilled mouse and I am moving him to rat pups. He has gained 43gms, but that counts only one small poop. He is 188gms total and born last August. I am waiting for an explosion soon.

I got him at the White Plains show from Larry Kenton...his breeding. He was hatched last August. And I just meant he was settling in and doing well since I only got him a month ago.

That is very cool! So, how do they compare....they look alike. What size is yours and what is he eating? Just curious.

He's about 2 feet long and yes he's eating great. After I fed him he started calming down . He's actually a real sweetheart, and lays by me while I'm in my room listening to music or watching TV on the couch :D. I'm still a little cautious, though... he could strike out again any time, lol. What about yours? How big? Eating? How much was yours anyway? thanks

Teal'C is very mellow too. He is 2 ft. 188 grams and will eat mice or russian dwarf hams (appropriately sized) every 5 days. Next meal I am gonna try rat pups, as I would rather switch him sooner than later. The only time mine has struck is for food. Though he did take a huge poop all over my 11 yo son. I gotta say he is my second favorite snake after my BRB who I've had since her first meal. I got him for what I thought was a great price....$125

Hahaha wow, I feel like I was ripped off . Tabu was $200 and $35 shipping, lol. He ate for me about a 1 1/2 weeks ago... 2 adult mice, which seemed really small because the next day I couldn't see them in his stomach. I've tried rat pups, but for some reason he won't eat them. I need to get him switched over pretty soon . What kind of setup is Teal'C in? Good luck with him !!

Hehehe. Actually I think I got a great deal. I was at the show and this was the last of Larry's P.curtus. I asked to see him and how much. Larry said that gee, it was the last of the clutch and a boy so $125. I was astounded. And the couple behind me was very disappointed I took him. (in a heartbeat!) He is in a 15X13X6 inch sterlite box, with a damp moss hide and water on paper towel. I just moved everyone into a new 'reptile room' that my kids now call "The Chamber of Secrets" and he is mid 80s. I am fiddling with temps for everyone still though. He likes that that warm. He is taking medium mice, or same sized dwarf hamsters and I am gonna try a rat pup next week when the latest litter gets to his size. Larry said he was taking mice....which might be why yours is looking at rats funny. Maybe scent the next one. Teal'C eats every 5 days. I tend to do smaller prey more often with babies. And he started eating the day after the show....amazing.
