Corn snake prices?

razordance Feb 14, 2005 11:48 AM

I'm in southern Ontario, and I'm interested in purchasing a corn snake. I was wondering what I should expect to pay for one? I know a normal corn is $130 cdn at the local pet store, but I'm hoping to find a way to the reptile expo in a couple of weeks, which means I may be looking into one fo the colour morphs. Can anyone give me some idea of what a normal, as well as some of the common morphs are work, in cdn$? I'm especially interested in bloodreds... Thanks

When you say bloor reds, do you mean like the I got here? If so I think those are the most common kind... But I'm new with snakes I could be wrong

No, I've seen corn snakes that are entirely bright red and almost patternless. They look awesome. I love the normals too, I'll probably just see what's available, but I'm wondering what I should expect to pay. Thanks

There is an expo coming up this month in Mississauga ON. It's on the 27th of Feb/05. Here is a link for more info.

As for corn snake prices....let me put it this way....after ONE visit to the expo...I'm never buying retail again. You can get a HUGE variety of baby corns from $40.00-$60.00.

If you are looking for specific morphs...expect to pay more of course. In addition...ANY other herp keeping needs can be addressed here. Go see it and have fun!

I was at the last expo, and was trying to find a ride to this one. I found out yesterday that I will be able to make it, and also that there's a professional breeder who might be interested in breeding our python, so that will be cool as well.
Thanks

I paid $80 for my Oketee from a very reputable snake store, and they have snows for $160 and amels are about the same. I have all three kinds of corns, (I got the amel and snow from a private sale) and am looking into breeding the amel and snow. I'm not sure what sex my Oketee is, as he is too young to properly sex.

Your best bet is to find a private breeder as they are usually cheaper, although you have to know how to look for disease in snakes and make sure you go pick it up yourself... The Expo is a good place to find good deals, though.

cornsnakes go for anywhere between $40 to $200, depending on age, morph and sex.

I don't think I want to tell you what I paid for three corns recently.. $45 USD total for hatchlings. One was a non eatter. I got a normal het for Amel, I got an Amel and I got a normal looking that had a Creamsicle ( the non eatter that has ate for me recently ) for a Momma ( would that be het for Creamsicle then??? ).

Regards..

The prices could be even higher on some morphs.. Easily be higher. I know on the Canadian side we are focused on the size issue. Here in California I can get adult common's for $40 to $120 USD.. Obviously it cost more than that to feed the corn, which a lot of Canadian dealers add into thier prices. Hopefully when I get re established on the Canadian side I can bring some qaulity adults to the public that are not orageously priced ( in my mind anyways )..

Regards...
