Snake people in Vancouver?

NadaNaga Apr 08, 2005 05:25 PM

Hi everybody! I'm new here and to snakes in general so I apologize in advance if I annoy anybody. Please let me know if I violate forum decorum somehow. Right now I'm doing a ton of research and looking into getting a ball python from Henry Piorun later this year. In the mean time I'm wondering about any reptile/snake conferences/sales/gettoghers happening in the Lower Mainland in the next couple of months. Also, being a snake owner is there any local group I'd be well advised to join? Snakes being such a long term commitment I want to be sure I'm going about it the right way. Thanks a bunch,

Introducing yourself and asking for advise/help/snake related chitchat, is completely acceptable Unfortunately I don't have any direct answers to your questions about whats out there in Vancouver (I am in eastern ontario, so not much help LOL). However, there are lots of snake people out there. You already mentioned one of the breeders, he may be aware of what herp organizations are out there. I am quite sure there is a reptile show of some sort in BC, just can't recally the name of it right now. Asking around petstores that sell reptiles may reveal any reptile organizations in your area. Even asking a reptile vet or his receptionist could reveal tons of information as well.

Feel free to ask any other questions and I will do my best to find the answer for you, if I don't know it myself.

Finally, welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay. I can get a bit slow here but I do encourage sticking around and hoping the others in the woodworks come out and post.

Thanks for responding! I was beginning to fear this forum was dead, or at the very least commatose. I now know about one reptile event at the beginning of July and I'm scheduled to meet with the breeder I mentioned soon. That should start me off on the right foot. I've also done some more internet research and found some links on the WSPCR website. But if there's anybody from the Lower Mainland out there who'd like to chat, gimme a holler!
