Question about my rainbow boa...

BlueEyedDevil May 06, 2005 07:58 PM

I have a rainbow that is somewhat new to me. I have noticed lately that there are a couple scales on her belly that are peeling. Is this a sign that she is too dry? I know she needs more moisture than my Spotted but I am not sure if this is from her crawling around or if it's something I should fix. Any suggestions are appreciated... I want her to be a very happy, healthy snake!

Rainbow boas do need a fair bit of humidity. If the flakey scales look normal otherwise, probable too dry. If the lose scales look stained, browish or redish, it could be scale rot. Increase the humidity so it's around 60-80%. Keep an eye on the flaky scales, to see if they go away or get worse.
