I need some advice ASAP.

I have been away for 2 weeks and the day prior to leaving i fed my snake one large/med sized pinky. The day of departure i fed him again another large/med pinky. He ate both with no trouble and has never had a problem eating the food i have gievn him. Upon my return he seems very lathargic and its seems that he has gotten alot thinner. I know this is not due to me being away becuase i have done this many times over the course of caring for him. It seems as if he is sick, i tried to feed him a pinky and he would have np part in it. He is so noticably skinny that near his tail end it seems as if the skin a folded over a little bit. He will be around 2 years old in september?

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out whats wrong and i can only come up with my only fault of his living conditions being a less then sanitary and maybe this is why he is sick. first thing in the mroning on sunday im celaning his entire terrarium and replacing the bedding etc.

please if you have nay insight on whats going on here let me know.

I need your help as it seems my snake is about to die???

Did he have water available throughout the time you were gone? If not I would offer him fresh water to drink and soak in, he may be badly dehydrated. Was there any indication of reguritation? Also, its really not a good ideal to feed two large prey items once after the other. This can cause problems, better to just feed him normally and have somebody come in to feed in during the middle of your time away.

Since you indicated that his home was dirty, did he poop while you were away or was the dirt from before? If he did, was it runny or really smelly?

If he continues to get worse your best bet is to take him to a qualified reptile/snake vet for a checkup.

I agree with PHLady.. Sounds like this was dehydration.. I have gotten BP's this way to, thier skin is sagging and drooping.. Took a while, but the critters have been hydrated. Least we need to be careful with water in the summer, husbandtry is a much needed thing to do as well.. Nothing like living in your own septic room..

Regards..
