ball pythons

Has anyone heard of a snake bitng it's back and dying or something to that effect? What would it be syptomatic of? Is it possble in a captive bred ball python?

never heard of a snake biting it's own back. However injuries can be caused by either other snakes housed in it's inclosure or leaving live feeders in the cage with them. Possibly a severe feeding response may cause the snake to strike it's own body if it was trying to catch a mouse or rat running over it.

I used to work at science north, and we had a milksnake that during feeding time grabbed his own tail instead of the mouse, and started to eat himself....
