My Ball Python isn't eating

Olly Nov 27, 2005 01:08 PM

Around July-ish I got two Ball Pythons, one male, one female. The male was about 3.5 years, when i got hiim, so is now(nov.27)nearly four. The female was 3, so is now about 3.5. I feed my male twice a month, "large" rats, and the female 3 times a month, with "small" rats, since she is a bit smaller than the male. But, for the past [at least] six feedings, so two months, she hasn't been eating. The temperature has dropped about 5-10 degrees farenheit(?spelling?)due to the winter climate, but hadn't done so when she began to not eat. She is becoming too thin IMO, and im am getting worried. Would she have begun this "winter fasting" i've read about, and if so, how shall i proceed. Or, if you have any other ideas as to why she's doing this, and more importantly, how can i get her to eat again? Any info would be much appreciated, thx.

hi olly...ball pythons are famous for going off their feed. my males and females have gone as long as 5 and 6 months. its important to keep offering them their food anyway. i feed mine one med. rat a week. but that changes at breeding times. there are lots of tricks to try and im sure you know alot of them. just keep plugging away and good luck with them...
