another snake??

I have a 6 yr old male ball python and i was wondering if anyone knows if i can introduce another one into the same habitat, the enclosure is approx 7 long 3.5 high and 2.5 deep. I would appreicate any help

that's a good size cage. though typically most breeders recommend housing snakes separated...a cage that size should allow two ball pythons to coexist without too much trouble. however, with any new snake, make sure you keep it separated from your current snake till it passes a clean bill of health from a vet, has no mites, or other parasite problems.

are you planning on breeding ball pythons, if not, not sure if two males would get along even in a cage that big. snakes don't tend to really damage eachother when fighting..but having two males in the same cage could stress one or both out. putting in a female, of course, could result in fertile eggs being laid. if the female is a few y ears old and of a good weight for breeding and that is what you wnat to do, then you could house them together year around. if you have no intentions of breeding, but don't want to risk two male snakes causing stress to eachother..it may be better to keep t hem separate completely.

i don't suggest putting a hatchling or much smaller snake in with your big male though, though ball pythons are not known for canabolism, a much smaller snake may still get eaten by the larger.
