Dasypeltis scabra

Dread Mar 28, 2006 01:18 PM

Hi folks,

I am looking for Dasypeltis scabra, and doubt there are any here in Canada. I am working on getting a permit for import (doesn't seem to be a problem), but have been encouraged to find a North American dealer/exporter to better check references, conservation issues, etc.

Anyone know where I might be able to get a pair on this side of the pond?

Thanks!

I haven't heard much about the availablity of egg eating snakes. I certainly don't know of any breeders or importers but did find an interesting site that does talk a bit about where to get them (though it seems more towards people who live in the area this snake can naturally be found). It does have very informative information about this particular snakes and what type of eggs it will need throughout it's life, caging and other captive care requirements.

I did find a breeder in America at the following link:

So far I haven't found anything for Canada. You could also check the breeder/dealer/store link near the top of the kingsnake page, this often lists exporters/importers as well.

Thanks for that. I hadn't found the breeder from the second link. The info from South Africa I had seen before, and I've gone through the Kingsnake breeder list as well. Most of which are now defunct.

My best bet so far is an Egyptian exporter, but we'll see what else turns up.
