Alot of the finer details I dont remember but will have to study up on myself in another year or so. However for when to start breeding, that I can answer now. Females should be approaching their third winter and at least 1500g before breeding. Males can be a bit smaller/younger though should be 1000g or more to ensure full sexual maturity. One good site I have found that talks about the whens, hows etc of breeding, is shown below: Buying the Ball Python Manual is also a good ideal, it has lots of basic information and guides from breeding, caring and dealing with stubern eaters as well as recognizing the common ailments of ball pythons.

How to breed ball pythons: www.ballpythons.ca/gallery/breeding.html

This of course isn't the only way but I find the step by step description very informative. I think NERD also has a breeding ball pythons guide.
www.newenglandreptile.com/care.html (not really much info on how to breed balls, but deffinitely great articles on how ball python genetics work for morphs)
