I have an all black Cali King snake and his nose constantly looks like he's shedding. Is there something wrong
is there actual unshed skin on his nose, or is the black just faded? It could be nose rub, from trying to escape the cage, or from screening if the cage is partially or completely screen. Get a close look, does it look red or pink? If so, add a bit of polysporin on it to fight infection.
If it looks flaky and grey, it could be a piece of stuck unshed skin. Dampen a towel and let the snake crawl through it a few times, this should help loosen the skin, or provide a moist hide for the snake to use himself. Or you can wait till his next normal shed and monitor the area, to see if it comes off in the newly shed skin.
Finally, if it doesn't appear to be any of the above, it could just be a scale loosing some of it's dark pigment.
