HOW MANY SNAKES ARE IN THIS PICTURE?

DonSoderberg Aug 09, 2003 12:48 PM

Count how many snakes are in the picture as represented by all or part of each head.

I'm busy today and may not get back to grade your papers 'till tomorrow, but I will let you know the exact number then.

Good luck,

At least 16 The ones you guys are missing are the one hanging it's head down almost out of the pic and the ont that only part of an eye is visible.

although i dont see this many heads, im going to make a guess that a few of them are hiding their heads, so i say 19.

Are they all Aztec/Zig Zags? Got any pics of the parents?

BTW....I see 14 heads.

DonSoderberg Aug 09, 2003 08:10 PM

. . . One of the parents is my hypo. lavender (from [bleep]) and the female belongs to Rich Saunders. She's an "aztecky" looking ghost. Apparently the only recessive they had in common was hypo.. We were hoping the ghost would have lavender genes. Shux. Oh well, what we got was better than a sharp stick in the eye. At least now all these babies are het. for both lavender and anerythristic and some maybe more.

Here she is earlier today on her nest box. She should lay her second clutch Monday or Tuesday.

That's a really nice looking snake.

BTW, looking at those babies made me realize I've never seen adult Aztec Hypos, got any pics of some? I'm really into Aztecs and would love to see some Aztec Hypo adults

Beautiful babies by the way!!! Not surprising of course

rick s. Aug 09, 2003 10:21 PM

18, but that's only because I know how many eggs there were! Great job with her Don, I wished we could have proven her het lavender, but like you said, those babies are definitely better than a sharp stick in the eye! Can't wait to see what happens with breeding some of them in the future.

Thanks again,
Rick S.

As far as I can tell, there are 15 heads showing (or partially showing). I could be wrong so I welcome any corrections.

NO, there is no prize other than the satisfaction of getting the same number I did. Note, I did not say the correct number. Some of the folks that can show us more than 15 will prove to be more observant than I.

Yes Rick, there are 18 in this group, but the challenge was to see how many heads were showing.

The entire clutch is in this "heap", but some are shy. There were 18 good eggs in it, but you know how that goes. I think they pile up like this to conserve moisture so important to the first shedding. After they shed, I'll count them. Twins are very common so there could be more than 18. One time, I had nine good eggs and hatched 11 in that clutch.
