Question for any Savannah Monitor breeders

niloc86 Apr 27, 2005 09:59 AM

I have a savannsh monitor and he is about 12 inches now. I asked at another forum how much he should be eating. The response was 12 crickets a day plus a fuzzy. His stomach is almost dragging the ground. Is he being fed too much? I was thinking about feeding him only every other day or just twice a week. Would this be okay? If you have any other suggestions please let me know.

I would check your heat over anything, you should keep the basking area at 130F this will help with digesting so much food and not allowing your sav to become lathargic. Also only feed rodents twice a week until at least a year old, to much meat can be unhealthy for a young monitor, wait until it is a little bigger.
