I'd say, it's only worth it if you want to have ANOTHER cage to clean. I bought one pair of mice about a year ago, the original female gave me about 100+ babies. Her daughters, the ones I let grow up, were just as prolific.
I use carefresh in their cages, and it REALLY cuts down on the males stink. The females aren't near as stinky, but the males do the "my territory" spray
I also have 4 corns, but at the time I started the mice, I also had a water Dragon, who eats way more than the snakes. With just the snakes now, I've decided to give my breeders to my brother for his monitor. The snakes just don't eat enough to make it worth it for me. Mainly because I don't care to kill them, The frozen are just WAY more convenient.
I got my last two batches of frozen from Rodent Pro, but I'm thinking of trying one who vacuum packs next time, because with only two adult mice eaters, the bags of 50 seem to get icky by the time I get to the bottom of the bag.
But, If you do decide to go for it, (and I think the mice are cute
), CareFresh is the BEST rodent substrate, IMO, and PetSmart makes a great Rat and Mouse food called Nutriphase. The mice love it and it's got a great variety, so even though the snakes eat the same thing each time, at least their food got to eat a variety
. (Another plus about mice...they RARELY, if ever, bite. Rat's on the other hand.....OUCH!)
Sorry, guess I got carried away
Finaly a topic I actually have some expertice at
LOL
