behaviour/color changes in my ig

igcharmer Sep 09, 2005 03:02 PM

I havee had my green iguana kitty for about a year and a half now. We also have three ball pythons. Kitty is an easy going iguana and loves attention..rarely does his mood change. For the past week or so he has been acting not likehimself at all, not eating, almost constantly on edge unless he is is being handled by myself (he loves his mom!) His favourite spot to laze around is the window in my bedroom, now he is constantly pushing at the screen and rubbing his nose against it like he wants out..same story when he is near a wall. he is still fat but i have noticed his waistline getting slimmer as well as an orange color on his dewlap. other than that the rest of his coloring is perfect. recently (about 5 days ago) we got a burmese python whose aquarium is in the same room kitty shares with me..would this add to what ever stress he may be undergoing right now (although i am not sure really what would have stressed kitty out in the first place (he is the happiest, most well loved and cared for iguana i have ever seen)...any thoughts would help.

thanks,
igcharmer

could be stress due to the new occupant in his 'territory'. ALso check his basking temps etc, change the UVB bulb if it's more than 5 or 6 months old. Try offering him his favorite foods to see if he will eat them. Keep him well hydrated. If he continues to refuse food and starts lowing weight, a vet check may be in order.
