HELP! Anole I.D needed

Arcreya Sep 14, 2005 10:53 AM

Hello.
I work at a petsotre and we recently received an Anole shipment that was supposed to contain A. carolinensis and A. sagrei (the pet store usuals). However, they shorted us those two species and sent a trio of another species instead. On the invoice they are simply listed as "Giant Blue Anoles" with no scientific name or other info.

They look like A. carolinensis, but are much larger. Their skin looks a little more "velvety" than A. carolinensis, simmilar to the skin on our house/golden geckos. I have seen them turn shades of brown and green, both with hints of orange. I have not seen any blue on them at all..so far. I have seen one out of the trio ocasionally sporting a beautiful spots and stripes pattern.

Anyone have any ideas as to what these may be?? I can get pictures if needed.

Molly

Posting some pictures would be the best thing to do.

Here's a link to some pics of the Anoles discussed in the previous post. ( http://arcreya.tripod.com/reptiles/id2.html )Unfortunatly my digital camera is old and doesn't take great close up pics. I hope they help some though, and I will continue trying for better pics.

Looks like a green anole to me. Like the ones at this link:

I really don't think they are A. carolinensis. These "Giant Blues" are about twice the size. Their bodies are heavier and the largest of the trio is about 12" from head to tail. Any other ideas?
