A few questions?

twall Sep 18, 2005 08:59 PM

I am just needing a few anwsers to some questions I have before I purchase my beardie. Questions that I can't seem to find answers to. Okay How much should you feed a dragon, and how often? How long do you leave the lights on in summer and winter? As well what age do they hibernate or that thing they do where they sleep alot? (sorry not sure of the name) Is it true if you take rocks or branches from outside you can bake them for 15 minutes at 300 degrees to be safe? And if the temp is at say 70 degrees in the winter will I need a under tank heater? What are the light time bulbs for? Are they good to use or usless? I am sure if I keep reading I will find out all answers, but for now I thought I would just ask. Thank you for all your help.

Thanks Steve I have gone to alot of sites and pretty much they are the same, so I have taking into account all of them and now I will do what you do and be my judge. Very interesting sites and great info on alot of them. I thank you for your help. The under tank heater I didn't want to use, that's why I thought I would ask about it. I haven't read to much on anyone using them, so I figured it was an out thing. I used to breed gliders and chins, so I do ask alot of questions and I make sure that when I purchase a pet the people are always there to answer any questions I may have as well. I have to wait a bit to get my beardie, cause I want the best for him or her, so we have decided to make a cage. I was going to get a 55 gallon, but I saw that they are high and not very wide. So we have decided to go with a 4*2*2 or a 4*3*2. I am not going to breed, so that should be plenty of room for the little gaffer. Plus I want to set his or her home up first, get it all ready then bring him home. I find if your ready then less stress right from the start. I deffinatly have been reading alot not just from here, but ever site I can find on beardies. I know pet stores and they only tell you what they have done, and some don't really know, so needless to say when i looked into getting a beardie, I wanted all the right stuff and all the facts. Thanks again for your help and maybe I will beable to help some others as well.
