Having a gaping mouth is normal for dragons, for the most part is normal. This is how dragons thermoregulate. If she is doing all the time, then might be an ideal to check your baskign temp, to make sure it falls within 95-115F.
the scratching at the walls could mean many things, the cage is too small, the dragon is bored, or seeing too much refletion and can't tell which way is back into the cage. It could also mean they want out, or they may have their own reasons for doing so.
Thanks for your advice. I'll have to check the temp cause its not the size her set up it is 2 feet deep 4-5 feet in lenght and 4 feet hight so i dont think its that and most of the wall she scraches at have no reflection in them. I think she's just being a brat. One more question for now if you can, how much is to much veggies a day for her 8-9 months. I got her from a friend about 3-4 weeks ago and she said she was 8 months then but today at the pet store they had little little babies and the guy said he was guessing they where 2 months i dont see how 6 months ago she was that size?
The cage height is alot heigher than it needs to be for a bearded dragon, though they do like to climb, 2 feet high is more than enough. Floor space is more important.
However you question was about your dragon being 8 months old and you found this hard to beleive with 2 month old babies in petstores being the same size? How long is your dragon? Dragons can grow at different rates so it's hard to say what size they should be at a particular age. As a comparison, most bearded dragons are around 4 inches long right at hatching. They can easily grow to 6" in length within a month, with proper feeding and care.
For a salad, I typically use a dish that is roughly 3-4" in diameter and about an inch to inch and a half in height for salad. I don't always fill it right to the top but do have it half full, especially if mixing crickets or silkworms in with it, to encourage dragons to eat greens with their insects.
