URO help please

earhtmother Jan 04, 2006 02:07 PM

We have a young Egyptian URO..5"SVLapprox...We also have 2-3mth Beardies. Now from all our reading the diets seem very similar with veggies being a large component. We bought a pellet food to add to the beardies diet and were wondering if we could also add a few to the uro's? I know the beardies are more omnivorous than the uro but as both do the veggie thing tooo........

Uromastyx diet differs enough from the beardies that I wouldn't feed them the same. The bearded dragon pellets have too much protien for the uromastyx. If you want to include dry pellets in the uros diet try iguana or tortoise pellets. they also like bird seed and alfalfa pellets. There are several types of fresh greens that should make up the bulk of their diet which include escarole, endive, bok choy, nappa, dandelion greens, mustard greens and collards. Don't forget the calcium/D3 suppliment.

You can include tortise pellets slightly moistened to Uros, some will eat them some won't. If you want to include them regularly add a little to their regular diet for a while and see if they decide to eat them. Mine won't eat them, they prefer "real food" like me
