Tricky crickets...

ChocoNumNum Jan 27, 2006 10:47 AM

Anybody know a good way to get crickets out of their little container thing into the tank without letting any loose? It's really the most annoying part of feeding my leo. Thanks.

I typically just keep my crickets a rubbermaid container filled with egg cartons. When it's time to collect some for feeding, I shake them in to a ceramic bowl and put my hand over it to prevent crickets from jumping out while I walk over the reptile cages to feed the crickets to.

Others have used toilett paper rolls and just covering the ends once crickets are inside. Or a styrofoam (or paper) cup works as well.

Thanks, I'll try that.

it depends what your keeping them in. Also are you okay with handling the crickets? If not your job is going to be very difficult, other wise I keep them in bags and I just put my hand in and shut the top of the bag with my other hand around my wrist, then when I have a cricket in my fingers I slowly pull my hand out and put something heavy over the bag opening, or you could get a clip that is easy to open to clamp over the bag mouth. Then just put the cricket in the tank/home. To hold a cricket I hold them right on the back so they cant bite me or claw me with those grose little feet. Also if you keep your crickets in some kind of tank the bigger the tank walls the better, that way no crickets can climb out.
