Hatchling Eye Problem

GeckoFire Aug 09, 2003 01:23 PM

Hey all.. so my first hatchling that I posted pics of a few days ago, I was looking at him today, and his right eye doesn't seem to open up fully. It just kinda stays part open, part closed if that makes any sense. His Left eye opens up all the way no problem and you can tell when he's awake and when he's asleep, but with the right eye it's not the case. I took him out to get a closer look at it, and it seems like it's glazed over i guess you could say. I can't really see where his pupil is at, and I just dripped a little bit of water on it to see if he would lick his eye or anything and nothing. Has anyone had any problem like this before? If so, what did you do to make it better? I know a vet might have to get involved, so if so, then that's what i'll have to do. Just wondering if anyone's encountered this before.. any and all help is appreciated.. Thanks

eye defects seem to come from two sources. either the incubation temps were instable, or the mother wasn't healthy enough to be laying eggs. i've never had a defect, and i email Ron Tremper about defects, and he said he's never had them either. i don't think there is anything you can do about it, but if he's healthy, don't worry, just keep him or sell him as a pet.
