do you have to crush the head or waxworms before feeding chameleons?
No. I free-range my insects instead of handfeeding unless I'm demonstrating to someone how the chameleon's eat.
The only time I crush the head on an insect before feeding it to a chameleon is if the chameleon is so sick that it might not chew the insect properly or at all when its put into its mouth....and that's mostly because its easier to get the insect into the chameleon's mouth that way.
No. Everything fed to healthy chameleons should be alive. Dont offer wax-worms very often either - high in fat, low in nutrition. Consider butterworms, silkworms, and small roaches, in addition to the standard crickets.
